Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

I have a huge sweet tooth and also love to bake. However, I try to moderate my sugar and carb intake. One thing is for certain--I could NEVER give up dessert (chocolate is my weakness). Instead, I started looking into healthier options to satisfy my sweet cravings. I soon discovered that you can still totally indulge in some delicious bakes without the guilt. If low carb and low sugar recipes just aren't your jam, you can still make this recipe without the substitutions (and still have no guilt, you do you!). You're probably thinking right now, "how can you make banana bread low carb?" and that's a very valid thought. Bananas are high in carbs, so here's the secret ingredient... banana extract! Trust me, you can't tell the difference! The last time I made this banana bread, a few of my friends and family tried it and they were shocked to find out there were no bananas in it. Guys, I'm not lying. Believe me when I say this recipe does not disappoint. Get ready for some of the best banana bread you've ever had! Happy baking and most importantly, indulge!!!

Servings: 1 loaf (approx. 12 slices)


What you'll need:

Banana extract

-> almond flour (2 cups)

-> coconut flour (1/2 cup)

-> banana extract (2 tsp)

-> baking powder (2 tsp)

-> butter or ghee, softened (6 tbsp)

-> monkfruit sweetener (1/3 cup)

-> cinnamon (2 tsp)

-> ginger (1 tsp)

-> nutmeg (1 tsp)

-> eggs (4)

-> salt (1/8 tsp)

-> unsweetened almond milk (1/4 cup)

-> lily's chocolate chips (1/2 cup)


Mix it up:

-> Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. + line a loaf pan with parchment paper

-> Mix together almond flour, coconut flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and salt

-> In another bowl, use a mixer (I use this stand mixer) to cream butter and monkfruit sweetener until soft and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. -> Add banana extract and almond milk to wet ingredients

-> Add the dry ingredients into wet ingredients and mix until batter forms

-> Stir in chocolate chips

-> Pour batter into loaf pan and smooth out the top (I sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon on top!)

-> Bake for 55 mins (use the toothpick test!)

-> Let banana bread cool before slicing (a butter knife works best if you just can't wait for it to cool like me)
